DO YOU WANT TO HELP TMPRSS3 GENE RESEARCH?

Turn your own skin cells into stem cells. If you have a confirmed diagnosis of TMPRSS3-related hearing loss, Dr. Rick Nelson has developed a process of taking human tissue and turning it into stem cells. These stem cells can be used to make "inner ear organoids", which have sensory cells similar to the human cochlea. These organoids can help understand how the gene causes hearing loss. His lab is currently doing similar research with mice that also have a mutation.
This research would require an in-person visit to the University of Indiana and/or a blood draw.
